I find that many small businesses have limited or little internet experience and don’t have the budget for an in-house webmaster. Alongside this is a fear of being ‘ripped-off’ and/or bamboozled by ‘geek speak’.

You’re going to find a website by first becoming aware of, or having a need for, a product or service and then doing research – most likely via a keyword search in a search engine. You can see that if you don’t tell anyone about your website, no-one will find it!
